Unfortunately, due to a death in his family, Worm Quartet has to cancel his appearance this year. And Steve Goodie regrets to inform us that he has to cancel because it’s too far a journey to make on Murray the riding mower.

NATE BOI SEEKS CRAFTY DEMENTIA FAN TO MAKE ROOM PARTY DECORATIONS

Are you an arts-and-crafts type of person who also loves the genre of comedy music? Well the almighty Nate Boi is throwing a Dementia Radio Room Party at MarsCon 2013, and needs someone to make decorations based on an idea of mine. I want someone to create a timeline of the history of comedy music, with page-sized info sheets about all of the great acts of Dr. Demento Show history, leading all the way to the 21st Century with the FuMP and MarsCon. I have sent my notes on this project to Nate, so all Nate needs now is some eager beaver with time on their hands between now and March 1st to take on the task. So if you’re interested in helping out with this neat, fun project, please contact me, and I will put you in touch with Nate Boi.

As we have done every year since 2008, I have scoured through all 11+ hours of the live comedy music concerts from MarsCon 2012 and put together a 4-hour-long 3-CD set / MP3 album of all the best performances and funniest moments from last year’s convention. All the proceeds from this Fund Raiser go towards covering the hotel room costs of the non-Guest-of-Honor Dementia Track performers, “Table 27″ dealer room fees, and other Dementia Track related expenses. This year’s collection has tracks by TVs Kyle, Cirque du So What?, Worm Quartet, the Gothsicles, Seamonkey, Possible Oscar, the Boobles, Dino-Mike, Consortium Of Genius, Devo Spice, the great Luke Ski, Power Salad, Feng Shui Ninjas, Beth Kinderman, DJ Particle, Jeff Reuben, Brett Glass, and Derwood Bowen! The track list for this year’s collection can be seen on the order page for the 3-CD set.

Luke Ski, our intrepid Dementia Track Chair, is hard at work trying to book a Music Guest Of Honor of comedy music renown. While a GoH hasn’t been secured yet, he can report that MarsCon 2013 will host the 3rd Annual Logan Whitehurst Memorial Awards for Excellence In Comedy Music. Logan was a brilliant and hilarious musician who was taken from us far too soon in 2006. Rob Balder wanted to create an award that celebrated the best in comedy music, so with the permission of Logan’s family, “The Logan Awards” were founded in cooperation with the FuMP dot com (The Funny Music Project). The first Logan Awards were held in Akron, OH at Con on the Cob 2011, and the second at DeepSouthCon 2012 in Huntsville, AL hosted by Dr. Demento himself, who is also a permanent juror. The MarsCon Dementia Track is proud to have the Logan Awards as a part of our main stage performances, and we look forward to hopefully handing out some ‘robot cat’ statuettes to some of our favorite regularly returning MarsCon performers. You can learn more about it at loganawards.com.

PRE-REGISTRATION ENDS TOMORROW ON JANUARY 31st

Pre-registration for a 3-Day badge to MarsCon is just $45.00 thru Jan. 31st, 2012. After that it will cost $60.00 at the door. Single day badges are also available. You can purchase registrations and learn about the rest of the con at http://www.MarsCon.org .

SPAFF HAS CANCELLED HIS APPEARANCE AT MARSCON 2012

Spaff has regretfully informed me that he’ll be unable to make it to MarsCon this year. You all can go back to believing that he does in fact not actually exist, and that he is in reality a “Mr. Hyde” style persona of Steve Goodie’s.

MARSCON 2012 DEMENTIA TRACK T-SHIRT NOW AVAILABLE

With this year’s theme being “Rocking The Apocalypse”, I drew all of the Dementia Track participants representing or being menaced by various types of apocalypses (except for the COG who are seemingly causing them). You can see the image here: http://tinyurl.com/APOCimage . You can order the t-shirt at http://dementiaradio.spreadshirt.com . This t-shirt won’t be for sale at the con itself, you have to order it ahead of time.

None of the funds from this shirt go to anyone other than Spreadshirt. However if you would like to spend some money to help out the MarsCon 2012 Dementia Track Fund Raiser, you can pick up this year’s (and previous year’s) albums at http://marscondementia.com/fundraiser-shop . You can hear a free 33 minute preview of this year’s collection here: http://tinyurl.com/MarsCon12PREVIEW .

MARSCON 2012 60-SECOND VIDEO AD ON YOUTUBE

I used the Dementia Track art I created this year and some familiar movie audio to make a 60-Second ad for YouTube. You can watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghFlLD17Yx4 Please share it with your friends on Facebook, Twitter, etc.

MARSCON 2012 60-SECOND AUDIO AD MP3 FOR RADIO & INTERNET D.J.S & PODCASTERS

Upon Devo Spice’s suggestion, I made a 60 second audio ad for DJs and podcasters to use to promote MarsCon. You can get that here: http://tinyurl.com/MarsCon12ad60SEC . If you’re still interested in the longer ones, you can get the 3.5 min, one here: http://tinyurl.com/MarsCon12adSHORT , and the 7.5 min. one here: http://tinyurl.com/MarsCon12adLONG . Any airplay you’re willing to give them would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

“TABLE 27″ IS STILL LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS

Our huge double-wide merch table for the acts of the MarsCon Dementia Track is returning once again, and we need people to staff it. In exchange for your services, you’ll get a free badge into MarsCon for the weekend. Table 27 is just outside the doors to the Main Stage room, and will be open during the Dementia Track concerts, on Friday from 8:30 pm to 12:30 am, Saturday from 1:30 pm to 6:30 pm, and on Sunday from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm. We will do our best to make sure our volunteers don’t miss out on anything at MarsCon they really want to see or do. We have 4 volunteerS already, and we’re looking for at least 2 more volunteers to help run the table during those times. Our goal is to have 2 or 3 people behind the table at all times when it is open, so if we have at least 6 volunteers, that should be easy to figure out. So if you’re willing to give us some of your time at MarsCon to help the Dementia Track in exchange for a free weekend badge, email me at thegreatlukeski@gmail.com . Thanks.

…More updates to come in the following weeks,
